This Week’s Meta: DrLupo x Borat

DrLupo teamed up with Borat to play games on stream while promoting the new movie sequel.

Borat’s second movie (officially titled Borat Subsequent Moviefilm: Delivery of Prodigious Bribe to American Regime for Make Benefit Once Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan) comes out on Amazon Prime on October 23rd. How did Amazon leverage their assets to promote the new movie?  A co-stream with DrLupo on Twitch. The icing on the cake was Twitch premiering the legendary collaboration on the front page of the platform. The segment generated incredible viewership for DrLupo lifting his channel to its highest peak viewership this year. As gaming and streaming become more mainstream, more digital marketing budgets are being pushed towards these unique partnerships. Hopefully, the industry gets to see more collaborations like this one in the near future.

  • The sponsored stream with Borat reached a peak of 168K concurrents even though the segment lasted less than an hour.
  • So far, DrLupo has produced about 26M hours watched in 2020 while averaging 11K viewers when he’s live.
  • DrLupo’s second highest peak was another Amazon sponsored broadcast while hosting a watch party for Utopia.
