Top 10 VTubers for April 2024

April saw an overall decrease in viewership among VTubers, as long plays of fan-favorite content like Monster Hunter World: Iceborne and Elden Ring finished up. Although the top 10 Vtubers for April was comprised of mostly Hololive members once again, the type of content being created diversified as VTubers tried to find a new headline attraction.

Pekora Ch. 兎田ぺこら (Usada Pekora)

Usada Pekora finally took the #1 spot this month with an average minute viewership (AMA) of 38K. As a Hololive member, Pekora causes mischief under the guise of a sweet bunny girl. She’s mostly known for playing sandbox builders like Minecraft and Terraria, and RPGs like Granblue Fantasy. This month, her new playthrough of Dragonball Z: Kakarot was a huge hit with fans, with each episode hitting over 900K views, while her playthrough of dating sim Bunny Garden was too fitting to pass up.

Miko Ch. さくらみこ (Sakura Miko)

Sakura Miko lost her crown, falling into second place with an AMA of 23K. As the most popular member of VTuber group Hololive, fans keep tuning in for her shrine maiden appearance and daring plays in games like GTA V. The reason for her lower viewership in April may have been the lack of any concert content, instead opting for a variety of different games such as the aforementioned Bunny Garden and collaborating with Shigure Ui for a competitive game of Super Mario Party.

Aqua Ch. 湊あくあ

As a new entrant into the top 10 VTubers, Minato Aqua hit an AMA of 18K. As another Hololive member, Aqua is known for her elegant maid outfits which is undercut by her bumbling airhead persona. Aqua’s incredible jump up to third place can be attributed to consistent viewership from her loyal fans that continue to return for her longer series playthroughs, as opposed to many VTubers who rely on one-off episodes of new games and activities. In fact, she mostly only played Cities: Skylines and Elden Ring across April.

Kuzuha Channel

Kuzuha remained the top male VTuber with an AMA of 16K for April. Kuzuha is a vampire with a suave yet arrogant personality, drawing in fans as the most subscribed male VTuber on YouTube with 1.7M subscribers. He typically plays highly competitive games such as Street Fighter 6 and League of Legends, but his biggest streams for April were two single player games: A Dance of Fire and Ice, and Rust (following the recent server wipe).

Subaru Ch. 大空スバル (Oozora Subaru)

Oozora Subaru settled in at #5 with an AMA of 15K, moving up a spot from last month. Subaru takes a different tack from many of Hololive’s VTubers, adopting a tomboy-ish, extroverted personality. Her biggest streams for April came from collaboration, playing the retro GBA game Tottoko Hamtaro 3 with Houshou Marine, and having a variety chat with the next entrant on the top 10 VTubers list…

Korone Ch. 戌神ころね (Inugami Korone)

Inugami Korone takes Subaru’s philosophy one step further, focusing on obscure retro titles that her fans may never have seen before and playing through them with her upbeat personality (as befits her dog-girl persona). Korone has become a fan-favorite among Hololive members, even starring in the new fanmade top-down shooter WOWOWOW KORONE BOX. Of course, Korone streamed the game which was released on the 12th of April.

叶ちゃんねる (Kanae Channel)

Kanae is the only VTuber in the top 10 who primarily streams on Twitch, generating an AMA of 12.5K. Kanae’s self-assured, charming persona brings in fans to his streams as he plays highly competitive games. Being on Twitch, Kanae focuses on long streams of mainstream titles like GTA V and VALORANT to generate a massive amount of hours watched – 1.3M for April.

AZKi Channel

AZKi held her position in the top 10 VTubers this month with an AMA of 12K. AZKi is a chosen diva, a VTuber who uses her incredible vocal range to dazzle her fans. Although she dabbles in a variety of content, AZKi’s most popular streams continue to be her vocal performances. Her 1M subscriber special brought in 706K views on YouTube as AZKi sang 100 songs in a back-to-back marathon event.

Nakiri Ayame Ch. 百鬼あやめ

Nakiri Ayame is the second new entrant to the top 10 VTubers list for this month, coming in at #9 with an AMA of just under 12K. Ayame’s traditional oni (demon) girl persona is just a guise: She’s actually a very friendly, funny VTuber. Ayame is one of the many VTubers jumping on the VCR Rust server, a server devoted to VTubers, where she created most of her content for April.

フブキCh。白上フブキ  (Fubuki Ch, Shirakami Fubuki)

Rounding out the top 10 VTubers for April is Shirakami Fubuki with an AMA of 11.5K. Fubuki is an otaku fox whose cheerful personality can quickly switch to cunning ruthlessness, as seen in her much-loved playthroughs of Project Winter and Undertale. Having finished her Monster Hunter World: Iceborne playthrough, Fubuki has been trying a variety of new content such as classic Minecraft challenges and Buckshot Roulette (featuring Sakura Miko).

Collaborations naturally pulled in the largest viewership on different VTubers’ channels, but dedication paid off for Pekora who was able to crack the top spot with not just variety, but sheer quantity. A space remains for the next big VTuber game, with Rust tiding over the community for the time being. Stream Hatchet will watch for the next big collaborative events in the VTuber community moving into May.
