GVC Top Ten: December 28th – January 3rd

Last week’s most watched games across Twitch, YouTube Gaming, and Facebook Gaming had some surprises. The viral Rust server shared by OfflineTV, Sodapoppin, xQcOW, and more launched the game into the top three after it was previously placed 32nd. Escape From Tarkov also skyrocketed up the charts to reach 2nd place and contesting the top spot with over 50M hours watched. However, Just Chatting remains dominant even in an off week. With that being said, the future for successful games may lie within collaborative servers for popular streamers. Similar to what was seen with Among Us where streamers would create private lobbies together, Rust is now in a position to generate substantial viewership for weeks to come if the creators continue with the server. It could be beneficial for new releases to utilize multiple streamers in a collaborative server effort to promote and help launch their game considering the successful case studies we’ve seen in the past year.

Top Growing Titles:

  • Rust jumped about 25M hours watched last week for a 883% increase while managing 313K average viewers.
  • Escape From Tarkov climbed almost 40M hours watched, a 297% increase.
  • Fortnite grew about 10% in total hours watched bringing them to over 24M in total.

Top Declining Titles:

  • Garena Free Fire dropped 15% and almost fell out of the top ten with 17M hours watched.
  • PUBG Mobile, the only other mobile game to make the list, also fell about 7% and outside of the top five games.
  • Just Chatting declined only 2% but was still able to retain the crown as the most watched category last week.
