As livestreaming continues to expand, Ibai Llanos once again stands at the forefront of innovating the livestreaming experience with his new competition, the Kings League. Ibai and former soccer player Gerard Piqué have teamed up to launch this 7-a-side soccer competition along with 10 other content creators and soccer players.
What is the Kings League
The Kings League is Ibai and Piqué’s attempt to generate more interest in soccer through a younger audience. This league features slightly different rules that aim to fix the fatigue and pacing issues that traditional soccer leagues struggle with. It also brings influencers and professional athletes together by competing with one another to see who’s club will reign supreme.
Live Streaming Performance
During the League’s first broadcasted matchday, the Kings League’s official Twitch channel generated 2.1M hours watched and peaked at 413K viewers. While these stats were impressive for the debut of a tournament, the second broadcast showed growth as the channel generated 2.4M hours watched and peaked at 601K viewers during the Xbuyer vs Kunisports match. Co-streaming channels also brought in 1.2 million hours watched across the two matches.
Ibai Live Streaming Event History
Ibai is no stranger to curating large events on Twitch. On June 25th 2022 the Spanish Streamer broke Twitch’s record for most concurrent viewers with 3.3 million viewers during his “La Velda Del Año II” boxing event. Now in partnership with Piqué, we are eager to see how the two can bridge the gap between livestreaming and professional sports.
