When looking at five of the major showcases that kick off this summer, we saw a 144% increase in AMA compared to 2022. The Xbox Games Showcase and Ubisoft Forward generated the highest increases in average audience on the list. Xbox Games maintained the highest AMA of any showcase with over 2M average viewers, which was a 174% increase from 2022’s 740K average viewership. However Ubisoft generated the highest increase in viewership with 278% increase in viewership YoY from 2022 to 2023.
2023 was the first Playstation Showcase in 2 years. The event was able to maintain an audience of 1.6M average viewers. The Playstation Showcase also clocked in the second most hours watched with 3.6M hours of watchtime throughout the duration of the broadcast.
Some of the biggest titles announced during Playstation’s showcase was the next installment of the Metal Gear Solid Franchise, Snake Eater, as well as the next expansion for Destiny 2 and a trailer for the upcoming Street Fighter 6
Summer Game Fest is one of the largest industry wide gaming showcases in livestreaming. This year the showcase was able to maintain an AMA of 1.8M viewers which was double the average viewership from last year. The Summer Games Fest was highlighted by the first look into Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, and an official release date for the highly anticipated Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.
Gaming Showcases also stand out when looking at other events like esports. When looking at the peak viewership of all events in live-streaming this year, gaming showcases make up 3 of the top 5 and 5 out of the top 10. The PlayStation Showcase had the highest peak viewership of all showcases this year so far peaking at 2.9M viewers.
